MOSCOW, ($1=62.00 Russian Rubles) — The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed video footage of the ground forces using the Uran-6 unmanned mine-clearing robot to demine minefields, mined roads, and regions in Luhansk. The Russian ministry says Ukraine’s armed forces have set up many “cables and traps” in the Luhansk regions.

The video recorded the joint work between Uranium-6 and the sapper units of the engineering troops of the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Defense says that fields loaded with anti-personnel mines and anti-tank mines are being demined. If the mines cannot be removed, the sappers undermine them, according to the Ministry of Defense.

“Particular attention is paid to roads, areas adjacent to important life-sustaining facilities in Luhansk, as well as agricultural land,” the ministry explained.

Uran-6 is a multifunctional Russian robot for demining land areas. This robot can be transported by air, sea, and land. Extremely light – weighs only 6 tons, is about 4.5 meters long, about 2 meters wide, and 1.5 meters high.

It is equipped with four cameras at the top, which allows the operator to monitor and receive a 360-degree picture. It is controlled by one operator, and the picture it receives is in real-time.

Uran-6 is called multifunctional because it can easily integrate tools that help to demine land, such as bulldozer blade 1.8 m wide, self-propelled minesweeper “Boykova”, robotic arm, massive cutter, power tiller, trailer, crane, clamp type clamp with a load capacity of 1000 kg, massive roller and demining trawl “Katkov”.

The robot can be controlled remotely at a distance of up to 1 km. The machine operator remotely selects an effective disposal device based on the type of object determined by the robot.
